Norwegian Cruise Lines Holdings has pledged to give six coastal Alaskan communities a total of $10 million for humanitarian relief. The list of communities includes Juneau, Sitka, Hoonah, Seward, Ketchikan, and Skagway.

According to Skagway Mayor Andrew Cremata, the funds, once accepted, would be distributed to the Municipality, and the Assembly will make the decision on how to utilize them.

“This is money that in my opinion, needs to flow through the assembly, and 100% of it go directly to small businesses and people in the community who are hurting,” said Cremata.

There is no indication as yet about how much funding Skagway will receive. The Assembly meets again this Thursday night, no discussion of the funds has been added to the Agenda as of Tuesday afternoon.
