KHNS – Community Supported Radio
KHNS is listener supported, community based public radio serving Alaska’s northern panhandle communities. A National Public Radio affiliate and a member of the Alaska Public Radio Network, KHNS provides a wide array of live, local and nationally syndicated programs for residents and visitors to the region.
KHNS began operating in 1980, under the banner of Lynn Canal Broadcasting, Inc., a federally recognized non-profit organization. We are associated with the Alaska Public Radio Network, a founding member of Community Radio of Alaska and a National Public Radio affiliate. KHNS provides a broad array of live, locally produced and national programs for our listeners.
We are fortunate to work closely with our local Haines and Skagway Fire and Police Disaster Councils to provide critical information to our listeners when necessary.
Our mission is…
“to inform, educate, enlighten and entertain.” We broadcast 24 hours a day at 102.3 MHz or 91.9 MHz with news, music and public affairs programming to suit the needs of a diverse listening audience.
