The next meeting of the KHNS Community Advisory Board will be announced two weeks prior, on the air and on this website.

Core Purpose. The purpose of the Community Advisory Board is to:

  1. Review the programming goals establish by KHNS radio
  2. Review the community service provided by KHNS Radio
  3. Review the impact on the community of the significant policy decisions rendered by KHNS radio
  4. Advise the board of directors of KHNS radio with respect to whether the programming and other policies of the station are meeting the specialized educational and cultural needs of the communities served by KHNS radio and may make such recommendations as it considers appropriate to meet such needs

We are currently looking for additional Skagway representation on the CAB.

We broadcast 24 hours a day at 102.3 MHz or 91.9 MHz with news, music and public affairs programming to suit the needs of a diverse listening audience. You can  Listen Live to our stream and view our newest Program Guide  at: www.khns.org

Our Program Director, Marley Horner holds an ex-officio position, and General Manager, Kay Clements also attends meetings. The Community Advisory Board meets a minimum of three times a year, usually quarterly. Our meeting dates are announced on the air and on the home page of KHNS.

 

Community Advisory Board Operating Principles:

  1. Core Purpose. The purpose of the Community Advisory Board is to:

  2. Duties. In order to meet the Community Advisory Board’s core purpose, the CAB members should:
    1. Inform themselves with regard to public broadcasting issues and policies, especially as they relate to Alaska
    2. Become aware of the needs and interests of the communities served by KHNS
    3. Advise station management consistent with the purposes outlined above
