High School Basketball on KHNS

Welcome to high school basketball action on KHNS! You can find audio for recent games in the Programming section under the Basketball tab. — KHNS has been the connection between our towns’ traveling student basketball teams and their fans at home for almost three decades, and we are excited to be part of Southeast Alaska’s rich history of intercommunity sports. We’re proud of our students and all of their hard work! Basketball season typically lasts from early January through mid-March and requires between two and four staff member to coordinate, per broadcast, in addition to volunteer announcers. We thank our basketball underwriters for providing the financial support that helps make that possible. To support basketball broadcasts on KHNS, email development@khns.org. KHNS Basketball Broadcast Policies: KHNS airs all regular season conference away games (i.e., not on home court) for the Haines Glacier Bears and the Skagway Panthers varsity teams. We do not broadcast pre-season games or games with non-conference teams (e.g., Yukon tournaments, etc). We follow the season through Regionals, and on to State when applicable. KHNS strives always to maintain a balance between the regular programming schedule that members depend on and special broadcasts that serve the specific needs of our varied listening communities. In determining broadcast schedules, KHNS places a priority on News programming, a decision informed by our Community Advisory Board and other listener and member feedback....

My whole life, growing up in Haines, everyone thinks I’m Tlingit, but I’m...
