Carnival Corporation has announced plans to sail to Skagway in late July of this year with two of their cruise companies. Both Princess and Carnival cruise lines fall under the corporate umbrella, and both have announced itineraries that include the port of Skagway.
Princess announced Thursday that it will begin Alaska-bound voyages leaving Seattle on July 25 for seven-day cruises aboard the Medallion Class ship the Majestic Princess. The vessel will visit Glacier Bay National Park, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway. The shortened season will end on September 26.
Carnival has announced that it will begin seven-day sailings aboard the Spirit Class ship the Miracle on July 27 with stops in Juneau, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, and Skagway. Their last sailing leaves Seattle on September 14.
According to company officials, all passengers will have to show proof of full COVID vaccinations at least 14 days prior to travel, and the crew will be in compliance with CDC guidelines. Those policies are subject to change based on any updated guidance from the CDC.
The itineraries are pending a temporary workaround of the Passenger Vessel Services Act. That law requires foreign-flagged cruise ships sailing between the continental U.S. and Alaska to stop in Canada. Congress has approved the updated legislation; however, it will still need to be signed by President Biden to become law.
