The Skagway Assembly confirmed Joe Rau as the new, full time, paid fire chief. Rau is presently a member of the Skagway Volunteer Fire Department.
His selection was recommended to the borough assembly by a committee made up of Mayor Andrew Cremata, Assemblymember Dan Henry, Fire Chief Jeremy Simmons, and Interim Manager Tom Healy.
The Borough received six applications and interviewed two applicants: Joe Rau and Roy Johnston of Juneau.
Mr. Rau will begin on Monday April, 15th.
