The Dahl Memorial Clinic identified four new active cases of COVID-19 in Skagway on Friday. That brings the total number of active cases to nine. According to a press release from the Municipality of Skagway, two of the new cases are believed to have been transmitted through community spread.

The State Department of Public Health is working with the clinic to identify people who have had close contact with individuals who have tested positive.

The municipality has extended its shelter in place order by seven days until October 31.

Under a shelter in place, residents are asked to not gather in groups and stay home as much as possible except to work in a critical job or receive medical care.

Non-critical businesses must close to the public, but may offer curbside service. Critical businesses that remain open must implement social distancing measures and require masks for patrons and employees.
