The Haines Silver Salmon derby drew to a close this past weekend. The annual contest presented by the Haines Sportsman Association ran from September 15th to October 29th, rain or shine, and featured 5 divisions.

 

In the youth age 5-10 division, Josiah Kelly earned 1st place with a 4.45 lbs fish. In the 11-15 age group, Alex Weerasinghe pulled off 1st place with a 7.3 lb salmon followed closely by Auden Kelly and Elias Kelly with 7.3 and 7.2 lb catches.

 

In the catch and release category, Remi Knotts took 1st, with Charlie DeWitt in second and Nathan Knotts in third.

 

For the flyrod division, Dani Grunberg caught the largest silver, weighing in at 9.8 lbs.

 

Finally, in the rod and reel division, a close competition saw Paul Hearn walk away with  1st place, hauling in a 12.2 lbs catch. Steve Anderson captured 2nd and 3rd place with 11 lbs and 10.85 lbs salmon.
