With the onset of Fall and Winter, summer activities like the Haines Farmer’s Market wind down. With the conclusion of the Market season at the end of September, KHNS’ Brandon Wilks sat down with Farmer’s Market Manager Sierra Clark to reflect on another year.
[Brandon] Sierra Clark, market manager for the Haines Farmers Market, which just ended a couple of weeks ago. How was the season this year?
[Sierra]Hey, we had an absolutely amazing season this year with the farmers market. We had over 30 vendors in and out throughout the whole season, maxed out our tables a couple of times, great produce great food this year. And Via Plagueis. She even wrote an amazing grant for advertising which brought in new merchandise new T shirts, tote bags, into the market, which was it was nice, fresh, new.
[Brandon] And how was turnout this year versus previous years?
[Sierra] It was it was crazy. We had so many people just in Haines in general. And even people coming in from the Yukon and Whitehorse just flooding in we had people coming, specifically gauging their trip around the market and coming multiple times.
[Brandon] And what are the plans for next year?
[Sierra] We were hoping to maintain the level of vendors that we had this year and keep up the advertising keep up having people having people come of course, and we’re hoping to maybe write a new grant for some new signs are our old ones are just getting kind of worn out. We’re also hoping if we can keep our vendor levels up that we might be able to talk to the fairgrounds about expanding a little bit, maybe getting some more tables from them, because there was a couple times this year that we had just enough space, just enough tables.
[Brandon] Sierra Clark, thank you very much for your time.
[Sierra]Thank you
