Preliminary, unofficial results are in for the Haines local elections

Here are the numbers for the 2023 local election in Haines. 1157 people voted, and there are 29 possible additional votes to come. These are the preliminary, unofficial results.

For Mayor, Tom Morphet won with 604 votes, Jan Hill has 532

For the three Borough Assembly seats, Kevin Forster has 719 votes

                                                                      Natalie Dawson, 656

Jerry Lapp received 520 votes,  and Diana Lapham 495.

For the seven seats on the Planning Commission, 

Patty Brown received 708 votes, 

Erika Merklin 637,

Derek Poinsette 629,

Rachel Saitzyk 623,

Dan Schultz 617,

Brian O’Riley 613,

Eben Sargent 561.

Scott Hansen received 555 votes, Rodney Hinson 399, and Richard Clement 341.

For the school board, Kevin Shove, with 755 votes, and Mark Jamison, with 552, each got a seat. 

The results will be certified at the end of the month.
