Skagway’s Nov. 7 borough assembly meeting was busy. The assembly addressed a Trump flag and a rock slide, and approved a community land trust feasibility study. They completed the first reading of next year’s budget and approved an upgrade to the 911 dispatch call system.

Haines and Skagway share the Lynn Canal and many services. But the two communities have very different levels of service for seniors. For example, Haines has an established senior lunch program, while Skagway has struggled to keep its nutrition program open due to staffing shortages.
