The Metlakatla Indian Community is home to Alaska’s only Native reservation, and they’d love for you to come visit. Less than 20 miles south of Ketchikan, the village of about 1,500 people is a short ferry ride or an even shorter seaplane flight from Ketchikan, yet many locals have never made the trip.

So on the last day [9/26] of a regional conference focused on economic development in Ketchikan [web: Southeast Conference], Metlakatla’s mayor brought a group of attendees across the channel to show off what his community has to offer. KRBD’s Michael Fanelli went along for the tour and has this story.
