The Skagway Assembly may adopt a resolution establishing new parking zones at a regular meeting Thursday (today 5/3).

The public has the chance to weigh in on the attempt to reduce confusion, streamline traffic flow and better accommodate tourist-related traffic.

Several public meetings have already been held on the proposed changes. They’ve been reviewed by the Civic Affairs Committee and Public Safety Committee.

Also on the agenda is a public hearing and adoption of a resolution naming the creek running through the Nahku Bay Conservation Area.

The resolution would name the currently unnamed body of water Matthews Creek.

The assembly is also set to review a proposal from the Planning and Zoning Commission, increasing fines for illegal habitation of RVs.

It would bring the fine up to $1,000 per day.

The assembly meets at Thursday at 7 p.m. in assembly chambers. You can listen live through a link on our website, KHNS.org.
