The 2017 commercial gillnetting season is over in Southeast. Disappointing sockeye numbers persisted in the Upper Lynn Canal throughout the summer. But, a particularly strong run of hatchery chum saved the season. KHNS’s Abbey Collins spoke with Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist Mark Sogge about the outcome of the 2017 season.
