In this interview from Lynn Canal Voice, KHNS reporter Claire Stremple speaks with Caroline Van Hemert. Van Hemert is an Alaska author who makes her home for part of the year at Glacier Point, near Haines. She released her first book, a memoir, this year.

Van Hemert is a biologist, writer, and adventurer. She and her husband made a 4,000 mile expedition across Alaska in 2012. They traveled from Bellingham, WA to Kotzebue, AK under their own power: paddling, hiking, and skiing. Her book, The Sun is Compass, describes that tripand her internal voyage.

Lynn Canal Voice is a talk show produced by the KHNS News Department.

Caroline Van Hemert will read and sign books at the Haines Borough Public Library at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019.
