Happy New Year KHNS Listeners! Tune in for special programming while KHNS staff and volunteers have the day off. We’ll start off the day with the annual New Years celebration from Vienna from 8-10am, followed by a mix of familiar and specialty programming throughout the day, with a two hour Musician Memorial show from 6-8pm. 8-10 – New Years Day celebration from Vienna – The Vienna Philharmonic will perform their famous New Year’s Day concert from the renowned Musikverein in Vienna
10 – TED Radio Hour
11 – Global Village – With a fresh, inventive mix of global sounds and styles and a welcoming presentation, this award-winning show speaks to the joys of musical discovery and smart entertainment with diverse and engaging world music. Hosted by Chris Heim.
Noon – The World – International and National news
1pm – Sounds from the Mother Road – Country, Roots and Americana!
2pm – The Mainstream – Producer and host Brett Maybee draws upon his love of all music to curate a show to appeal to a wide audience
3-5 – World Cafe – For over 30 years World Cafe has presented eclectic and emerging artists on public radio. Hosts Raina Douris and Stephen Kallao bring together interviews from emerging artists and delve into the years of live recordings from World Cafe.
5pm – NPR’s All Things Considered
6-8 – Musician Memorial 2024 – Music Special Producer Paul Ingles’ annual tribute to musicians lost in the current year. Paul plays a track each featuring artists like Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, Quincy Jones, Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band, Jazz Sax greats David Sanborn and Benny Golson, JD Souther, Melanie Safka, Sergio Mendes, John Mayall, Cissy Houston and more.
