Hi Folks!

KHNS staff and volunteers have Monday off in observance of Memorial Day, but there will still be special programming throughout the day.

We’ll start off with our friend Gregg McViccar and his show Undercurrents, in place of Soundwaves from 8-10

6-8am- NPR Morning Edition

8-10am – KNBA/Koanic Broadcasting’s Undercurrents, with Gregg McViccar

10am – Freakonomics (from WNYC, with host Stephen Dubner)

11am – From KCAW in Sitka, we’re happy to air Gunalcheesh, a mix of music and spoken word in Southeast Alaska Native languages Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian

Noon – WGBH and BBC present The World, a weekly look at national and international news.

1-2pm – Sounds from the Mother Road is weekly exploration of the last 70 years of American Roots Music, featuring western swing, country, rockabilly, cowboy tunes and the artists who continue those traditions today.

2-3pm – Backstory with the American History Guys is a weekly podcast taking a deep dive into our history. This radio edit of their episode covering the history and controversy of the Confederate monuments on Richmond, Virginia’s Monument Avenue.

3-5pm – World Cafe, from NPR and WXPN, the full two-hour program showcasing indie artists and live recordings

5-6:30pm – NPR’s All Things Considered, daily news keeping you informed of the latest

6:30pm – The Daily, from New York Times, a half hour program diving into a single subject pertinent for the day

7pm – Living on Earth, Hosted by Steve Curwood, the award-winning environmental news program “Living on Earth” delves into the leading issues affecting the world we inhabit.

7:30pm – Counterspin, Drawing on an international network of experts, analysts, activists and artists, CounterSpin dissects news coverage of a wide range of issues and current events.

8pm – Full Moon Hacksaw, Full Moon Hacksaw is a weekly two-hour radio series spotlighting an eclectic mix of classic and modern Jazz and Blues music, hosted by Arizona radio veteran Tom “Hacksaw” Coulson.
