TinaCyr Vertical MockUp

KHNS is thrilled to announce this year’s KHNS Membership Art Print artist is Skagway artist Tina Cyr.  Tina’s watercolor, Kelp Dance, is beautifully reproduced in a 24″x9″ print for all 2016 members who donate $50 or more.  Make your gift today at KHNS.org.

“I grew up in Skagway so I have been listening to KHNS Radio since the beginning,” says Tina.  “My partner, Ralf Gorichanaz, fellow Skagway artisan and I have been long time KHNS members. When we are away from home, I even dial in and listen to the news and programming from the KHNS website.”
“Kelp Dance is part of a fun and lively watercolor series I completely recently and I am just tickled that my favorite one was selected as the KHNS poster this year.  It’s an honor really – I don’t really consider myself a ‘fine artist” more like a FUN artist. I’ve been experimenting with all types of water media for the 10 years.  Kelp Dance is painted using bright translucent watercolors with several layers of design drawn between each blanket of mixed colors.  I feel like there is lots of movement within the large Kelp fronds and they really do seem to DANCE!”

Kelp Dance will be available throughout the 2016 Membership Drive.  Donate during the Quiet Drive May 31 to June 26, or call or stop by during the on-air fundraiser June 27 to July 2.  KHNS will be broadcasting live from First National Bank Alaska in Haines Monday, June 27; from Mountain Market on Wednesday, June 29, and from the Historic Skagway Inn Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1.  Thank you to our art print underwriters Skagway Convention and Visitors Bureau and White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad for their generous contribution toward the production of this year’s print.
