A public hearing that gets the ball rolling on future changes to heliski boundaries tops the list of agenda items at this week’s Haines Borough Assembly meeting.
According to the agenda, the goal is to initiate changes to the commercial ski-tour-area map. But first, the borough manager needs assembly approval to convene a heliski map committee. The committee would be made up of various affected parties, and government agencies.
The agenda states that a timely request for amendments to the commercial ski area map has been received. But, Tuesday’s resolution does not authorize map amendments. It simply allows the manager to convene a committee to consider the suggested changes. Any recommended changes would ultimately go to the assembly in the form of another resolution.
Up for adoption at that this week’s meeting is an ordinance outlining a revised fee schedule for harbor-facility usage. The ordinance updates the boat-launch-ramp user fees.
Representative Sam Kito III will give a legislative update during the meeting, and Haines’ new borough manager, Bill Seward, will be sworn in.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in assembly chambers. Click here for the full agenda and packet.
