The Juneau office of NOAA put out a flood watch for the upper Lynn Canal. A weather system is moving onto Yakutat this afternoon and will arrive in our area by early evening.
Just under four inches of rain are expected to have fallen by Friday morning, the winds may gust as high as 40 mph. DOT crews have already dug out the channel of the slide area at twenty three miles, in anticipation of more material coming down the mountain. A flood watch means residents should be aware that watercourses may overflow their banks, and of the potential for rockslides.
