The Haines School is putting a stressful week behind.

The author of a threatening graffiti that upended the Haines school has been identified last Friday. Superintendent Roy Getchell says a joint investigation with the police department determined that there is no active threat in the school. He says the school district is working with the student and their family, through what he described as a recovery situation.

Getchell: “But then also we’ll be working with our own students and our families to talk about any lessons that we learned and what we did well and what we need to learn from and do better next time, and use this a learning experience all around, so we just appreciate the grace and cooperation of our community, and the dedication of our staff and the cooperation with the Haines Borough Police Department. We are looking forward to moving forward.”

Classes at the Haines school are following their normal schedule.
