The Haines Volunteer Fire Department was called in to extinguish a burning vehicle on Tuesday night. As KHNS’s Alain d’Epremesnil reports, no one was injured in the incident.
Around dinner time on Tuesday, the siren at the firehall went off, calling all volunteers to respond.
Clay: “We had a vehicle fire on Piedad road.”
This is Fire Chief Brian Clay. Within 11 minutes of the siren call, the department was on scene. They found a truck engulfed in flames.
Clay: “:We don’t know the cause, we are assuming it was some electrical in the engine.”
Firefighters pulled a hose out and quickly put out the fire. They dismantled the vehicle to make sure water reached everywhere. The truck was a total loss.
Twelve firefighters responded to the call. After one and a half hours, most were back home to finish their dinner.
