COMMUNITY ADVISORY
Another person has died potentially as a result of fentanyl. The Haines
Borough Police Department received a 911 call this morning regarding an
unresponsive person at the Eagles Nest Apartments – 1069 Haines Highway.
The person was transported by the Haines Volunteer Fire Department
Emergency Medical Services to the SEARHC Clinic and was later pronounced
dead by clinic staff. Although this incident is still under investigation, fentanyl
is suspected to be a contributing factor in the loss of life.

The most important thing that you can emphasize in your circle of influence is
for people to NOT touch these drugs if they find them. They can cause severe
reactions with the transference of powder that may be on the surface or with
crushed tablets. In this instance, if people find drugs that they believe to be
fentanyl, please contact the Haines Borough Police Department at 907-766-
2121. Only call 911 if it is an emergency where someone has come in contact
with the substance.

Narcan kits are available free of charge at the SEARHC Clinic and HVFD.
If you have information related to this investigation please contact HBPD at
(907)766-2121 or you may provide anonymous information online via text to:
TIP HAINESPD followed by the tip to 888777.
