The Dyea Road will be closed for exploratory geotechnical drilling periodically this Saturday, July 10, through next Wednesday, July 14. According to municipal officials, the state Department of Transportation will be drilling core samples to determine what type of subsurface exists in order to develop plans for a permanent fix for the damage created by the flooding last December.

  • On Saturday the road will be closed from 7 a.m. to noon, then open for the rest of the day.
  • On Sunday the road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 pm to 4 p.m.
  • Monday and Tuesday will see closures from 8 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The road will be closed on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon, at which time all work is slated to be completed.
