The Chilkat Valley moose hunting season officially closed October 7. Only two more moose were taken this week, bringing the total to 14, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
This year’s hunt included four spike-fork bulls, eight with three-brow tines, and two with an over 50 inch antler spread.
Hunters have 15 days to return their hunt report cards. They can be submitted by mail or in-person at the Haines’ Fish and Game office. After hours, they can be dropped off in the drop box outside the office, or reported online at hunt.alaska.gov.
