The Bureau of Land Management announced its management plan for over 300,000 acres of land near Haines on Friday afternoon.

The agency selected Alternative G with the intention of striking a balance between development and environmental stewardship, according to a press release.

Notably, the decision will increase the number of permits for heli-skiing gradually over the next decade. Mountain goat habitat previously considered for an Area of Critical Environmental Concern designation will be managed for recreational use.
