Skagway resident Andrew Cremata has been elected as the town’s new mayor.

According to results released by the Municipality of Skagway, Andrew Cremata received 238 votes and Dave Hunz received 216 votes.

The newly elected mayor will take office on Monday. He will serve the remainder of the current mayoral term, which ends in October.

The special election was held to fill the office following the death of Mayor Monica Carlson in December. A celebration of life will be held for Carlson at the Skagway School on April 28th.
