Disagreements persist as Skagway Assembly works toward new tidelands lease

Skagway leaders still have some major disagreements about a new lease that would allow White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad 15 more years of control over city tidelands. The assembly hammered out more details on the draft memorandum of understanding Thursday. Skagway Assembly candidate fined $220 for incomplete financial disclosures

For the second time in two years, a Skagway political figure has been ordered to pay a fine for incomplete financial disclosures. Assembly hopeful Dan Henry failed to disclose substantial debt on his candidate paperwork. He will still be able to run for office in the upcoming election. Dan Henry’s troubles with Alaska’s campaign finance watchdog started last year, when he was on the assembly. His candidate financial disclosures, also called POFDs, were used as evidence in a federal investigation.
