Haines Police are investigating two break-ins and thefts that occurred Friday night.

Employees at the Haines Borough Public Library reported a burglary there when they showed up for work Saturday morning. Library Director Patty Brown says there were obvious signs of a break in and staff discovered about $250 in cash was missing.

Later on Saturday, a business on Union and Fourth Avenue also reported a burglary and theft they say occurred during the night. About $250 in cash and merchandise was reported stolen from that business.

The Haines Police Facebook page says police are investigating both cases and ask that anyone with information about either case contact the department. Chief Bill Musser is out of town this week and unavailable for comment.
