Two candidates have filed for two open spots on the Skagway School Board. Incumbent Darren Belisle and newcomer Jaime Bricker put their names in the running Friday.

Belisle has served on the school board since 2002. He is a power operations manager at AP&T.

Bricker is president of the Skagway Traditional Council and works for White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad. This is her first time running for municipal elected office.

In Haines, there are also two school board seats opening this year. As of Friday afternoon, incumbent Sarah Swinton was the only candidate.

Both Skagway and Haines have two assembly seats up for election. In Skagway, Orion Hanson and Tim Cochran have put their names in the running. In Haines, Diana Lapham and Heather Lende have declared candidacy.

The filing deadline in Skagway is Monday evening. The deadline in Haines is Friday, Aug. 19. The municipal election takes place Oct. 4.
